“It was a pleasure to work with Retro Roadshow[…]. Sarai and Huxley made sure they understood our facility, how to best showcase their equipment and to work out any challenges ahead of time. I deeply appreciated how smooth the day of their program went for myself and the library staff.”
Huxley’s conversation with attendee, Mario Through the Ages event
“There was a man playing Donkey Kong. Holding the joystick and with tears in his eyes, he remarked, ‘I can’t believe it’s an Atari. I had forgotten I used to sit down on the floor with my brother. I had forgotten that memory, but… my hands still remember.’
He was so overcome with emotion. It was a reminder for me of the nostalgia factor and how impactful it can be for people. I keep seeing his eyes so red saying ‘my hands still remember.’”
Hannah C., Morgan Hill Library, Mario Through The Ages event
“It was a pleasure to have you! Our patrons loved having a chance to have hands-on experience with older technology and games. Watching enthusiastic parents sharing ‘their’ version of Mario with the younger generations was a delight.”
Dad from Taiwan, Science Night school event
“I wasn’t here in this country yet so I didn't get to play these games like Atari. And in 1992 it wasn’t around. But my husband played. And now our son is into games but he likes the old games like Atari. So this is fantastic to see all of this and not broken down.”

“The exhibition itself was excellent. Huxley gave an entertaining historical overview of the evolution of the technology that many of us live with every day. The presentation makes the computer exhibit meaningful so that the audience understood how specific devices were innovating towards many familiar services.”
Violet, age 17, Mario Through The Ages event
“I love how the exhibit is set up clockwise from the oldest to the newest. Mario 3 is my jam! This is the first time I’ve ever gotten to touch and play any consoles. This was just so fun and well done.”

“This is what video games used to look like before your phone.”
Don P., Milpitas Library, Tales From The Orchard event
“There was ample time for everyone to try out whatever computer interested them. The devices all were in great condition and looked brand new, adding to the excitement of the people who wanted to try them out.”
High School student, Playing With The Future event
“THIS IS ALL REAL!!! THE VIRTUAL BOY????!?!?!?!!! IT’S REAL?!? EVERYTHING IS REAL???”
Mike D., YouTube comment
“Really enjoyed seeing your video on this communicator. It brought back many fond memories. I came across my collection of Sony Magic Link brochures and manuals and … can pass them along to you. Like you, I was obsessed with this device and poured a lot of time and money into it back then.”
Leanna H., Mario Through The Ages event
“...thank you for taking the time to chat with me about sharing your Retro Roadshow with homeschooling families!”
Don P., Milpitas Library, Tales From The Orchard event
“Although the historical overview is at an adult level, we had patrons of all ages enjoying both the presentation and the hands-on portion of the show. This is a thorough, thoughtful program that makes a complicated history accessible and encourages visitors to discover more themselves.”
Woman born in 80s era, Mario Through The Ages event
“This reminded me of a time in my childhood when I realized that my dad was secretly playing Mario when everyone was asleep! One day to my family’s surprise, he abruptly gave it away. I think my dad must’ve missed it because he bought another NES HAHAHA!”
Attendee at Bay Area Maker Faire
“Holding the joystick I was transported back in time. Brings back memories. I just need to be sitting down on the floor cross-legged.”
